Industrial growth, improved competitiveness and new business opportunities without forgetting well-being at work! Sounds good, but how? The RoboAI Research and Development Center has launched a new RoboAI Roadshow concept that will bring cutting-edge technology and RDI expertise to businesses across Satakunta.

The region and its surrounding areas are home to many traditional industries, green growth circular economy companies and players in the social and health care sector. During the three-hour event, business guests will have the opportunity to explore the opportunities offered by different technologies in participatory workshops. They will also learn about RoboAI's research activities and the business projects being implemented at the RoboAI Academy. At the end of the event, there will be an opportunity to discuss collaboration opportunities with experts, even over a cup of coffee.

– Over the years, we have worked with companies on a wide range of technology development activities. In all of this work, the importance of experimenting and testing different technology solutions before deciding what kind of application to build or produce has become clear. Similarly, any kind of participatory approach to technology transfer, where representatives of companies can experiment and tweak technology solutions themselves and learn how easy it is to do things and how quickly you can learn how to program a robot, for example, has been found to work well, says Mirka Leino, Senior Lecturer.

New perspectives in participatory workshops

The workshops will offer plenty to see and do on a wide range of topics. In the industrial robotics workshop, participants will get to try their hand at palleting with a collaborative industrial robot. The AI workshop will show how AI can be taught to understand your company's most important information and become an effective assistant. In the mobile robot workshop, participants will learn about mobile robots and how to program them for various logistical tasks. In the exoskeleton workshop, guests will get to test exoskeletons, external support skeletons that make work easier. The most important work-life skill of the future is recovery. At the Relaxation Point, we will consider how this can be achieved in everyday life.

– Kankaanpää has a well-diversified industrial structure, with strong companies in the machinery and metal sectors, the food industry and the construction products industry in particular. In order to succeed and grow, these companies are constantly developing their production and nowadays robotics can be used more and more extensively in this development," says Marko Rajamäki, Business Development Director of the City of Kankaanpää and encourages companies from Kankaanpää and the whole of North Satakunta to visit the roadshow to learn more about robotics.

The RoboAI Roadshow is part of the RoboFleet - Effective use of swarms of mobile robots and exoskeletons. The project has been co-financed by the Regional Council of Satakunta under the Act on Financing Projects of Regional Development and Regional and Structural Policy of the European Union (757/2021). The project measures fall within the scope of the European Union's Fair Transition Fund (JTF) regulations.

RoboAI combines the expertise of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and Tampere University. The center's research serves companies, communities and public actors in the Satakunta region in the challenges related to artificial intelligence and robotics. RoboAI implements development projects to support testing, product development and design. RoboAI enables companies to pilot, prototype and test new business openings and to use new knowledge generated by university research groups. The Green subset will work closely with Prizztech's Green Growth team.
