The aim of the research and development work was to create solutions for optimizing welding quality, reducing material waste, and lowering energy consumption and CO\u2082 emissions. The Cobot project has now ended, but the research and development work continues in two new welding-related projects.\n<h3 data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1074\"><strong data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1074\">Close cooperation with companies at the core<\/strong><\/h3>\nA key element of welding-related RDI work has been close collaboration with companies. During the Cobot project, a total of five welding workshops were organized across Satakunta, attracting a large number of participants from both local companies and further afield. Events were held in Kankaanp\u00e4\u00e4, Rauma, Kokem\u00e4ki, and twice in Pori.\nCompanies also had the opportunity to bring their own test pieces for welding at the cobot station in SAMK's Mechanical Engineering laboratory. The collaborative robot station, assembled through project investments, includes modern robotic welding equipment as well as tools for quality analysis.\nThrough experiments, testing, and demonstrations, SMEs improved their expertise in welding robotics, programming, and the use of artificial intelligence. At the same time, RDI collaboration between SAMK and regional companies was further strengthened.\n<h3 data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1999\"><strong data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1999\">Welding calculator has been published<\/strong><\/h3>\nOne of the most important solutions developed during the project to support companies' daily operations is a welding calculator.\n- It is a web-based tool that anyone can use, regardless of whether they are using a phone, tablet, or computer. They support welding companies in their transition toward low-carbon and competitive production.\n<h3 data-start=\"2900\" data-end=\"2947\"><strong data-start=\"2900\" data-end=\"2947\">Development in the welding sector continues<\/strong><\/h3>\nAt the beginning of April, two new welding-related projects were launched at the RoboAI Research Center: RELA - <a id=\"fl-accordion-gkqrztux5pw8-label-5\" tabindex=\"-1\" role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><\/a>Resource-wise manufacturing and TechMetalli - <a id=\"fl-accordion-gkqrztux5pw8-label-8\" tabindex=\"-1\" role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><\/a>Advanced technologies to support security of supply.\n- In the new projects, we focus especially on laser cladding and repair, supported by integrating a handheld laser into the ABB cobot acquired in the Cobot project, says Project Manager <strong>Veli-Matti H\u00e4rm\u00e4<\/strong>.\nThe new projects involve collaboration with a broad network of companies and leading research organizations such as HAMK, Tampere University, and the University of Oulu. They build on the expertise developed so far and respond even more comprehensively to the future needs of industry.\n<em>The Cobot project is co-funded by the European Union.
